Good nutrition, like film study, mindset, and rest, may often be overlooked, but are ultimately essential elements of a complete training program that can set you apart.

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING

“Jennifer provided nutrition education for a group of student athletes, including our son. Jennifer was very engaging and was always willing to answer all of their questions.

She was able to speak to them in a very accessible way and really tailor the information to their age, level of understanding, and their goals as student athletes.

The boys have commented to me personally many times about how much they learned and how much they enjoyed the process with Jennifer.

She was also very flexible in scheduling around their busy schedules. I would highly recommend her for students and youth sports teams looking to integrate proper nutrition into their health goals.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO DO YOU WORK WITH?

I work with athletes in middle school, high school, and early college that want to invest in both their athletic performance goals and overall health and development. I’m also passionate about caring for the busy families that cheer them on from the sidelines and often sacrifice some elements of their own health and wellbeing to support their kids. For both youth and adults, this may include medical nutrition therapy to address conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. I am not currently working with active eating disorders but would be happy to provide a referral.

WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?

I offer one-on-one and small group nutrition counseling services for athletes and their families. I provide individualized, age-appropriate sports nutrition counseling for athletes age 10 and up, but am willing to also work with younger family members as needed to help establish healthy nutrition habits and a positive relationship with food. I also offer consulting services to teams, clubs, schools, and training programs to provide evidence-based performance nutrition education to support program goals.

WHAT PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT? DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

Payment can be made with all major credit cards through my secure online portal and is expected at the time of service. Credit card payments are subject to a 2.9% processing fee. I do not take insurance but am happy to provide an itemized receipt or superbill for you to submit for flexible spending account reimbursement.

WHAT DOES SMALL GROUP COUNSELING LOOK LIKE?

With small group counseling (up to 4 persons), I’ll first assess the needs, interests, and goals of the group and then develop a nutrition education program to address those. In addition to information sharing, small group sessions have a practical workshop component where clients work together with my guidance to create actions plans for themselves and solve key challenges. Specific personal health information sharing is limited in this setting to protect privacy. Small group counseling usually consists of 2-3 sessions (1-1.5 hours in duration) with at home activities in between to support the learning (i.e. help your parent plan a meal this week or accompany them to the grocery store). Cost varies depending on group size and number of sessions. Contact me for details.

CAN I WORK WITH YOU REGARDLESS OF WHERE I LIVE?

I am licensed to practice in Ohio and Kentucky at this time, so as long as you are sitting in one of those two states, we can work together. I offer in-person, on-site, and telehealth services through my secure online portal. Contact me and we can work out the details for how to connect.

DO YOU WORK WITH EATING DISORDERS?

I do not currently work with active eating disorders, but I am happy to provide a referral. If we suspect, through the course of counseling, that an eating disorder may be developing, I will also refer you to a more suitable provider for the best care.

WHAT IS A REGISTERED DIETITIAN AND WHY DO I NEED ONE?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is a credentialed, nationally recognized food and nutrition expert and must have:

  • Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Completed an accredited supervised practice program.
  • Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Kept up-to-date with required continuing education.

This means that an RD/RDN is the BEST resource for evidence-based nutrition counseling and individualized care to fit your unique needs.

WHAT IS A CSSD?
A CSSD, or Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist that has completed additional continuing education, 2000 hours of practical experience in sports nutrition, and passed an additional certification exam. I am currently working toward this credential.
WHAT IF I HAVE A MEDICAL ISSUE LIKE DIABETES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, OR AN INJURY?

Whether you’re an athlete or a family member, managing a medical diagnosis or recovering from injury is tough, and nutrition and lifestyle interventions can make a big difference. I can help! As an RDN, I have training and experience in providing medical nutrition therapy to help manage a variety of conditions.
